As lawyers and as providers of certain financial-related services (such as real estate settlement services, trust and estate planning and administration services, and fiduciary accounting services), we are required by Federal Law (the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act) to inform our clients of our policies regarding privacy of client information. Our law firm understands your concerns as a client for privacy and the need to ensure the privacy of all your information.

Your privacy is important to us and maintaining your trust and confidence is a high priority. Lawyers have been and continue to be bound by professional standards of confidentiality that are even more stringent than those required by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. Therefore, we have always protected the right to privacy of our clients. The purpose of this notice is to explain our Privacy Policy with regard to personal information about you that we obtain and how we keep that information secure.

Information We Collect. We collect nonpublic personal information about you that is provided to us by you or obtained by us from someone on your behalf with your authorization or consent. The type of nonpublic personal information that we collect varies according to the services we perform for you, and may include:

Information that we may receive from you (such as your name, address, social security number, income, assets, liabilities, and other financial or household information);

Information about your relationship with us (such as the types of legal services being provided to you, your invoice balances, and your payment history); and $ Information that we receive, with your authorization, from third parties (such as accountants, financial advisors, insurance agents, banking institutions, real estate agents, mortgage lenders, and others).

Whether you are a current client, a former client, or a non-client that we have provided services to (e.g., an adverse party involved in a real estate settlement where our firm acts as Settlement Agent, or an Executor of an Estate or Trustee of a Trust that we represent), we do not disclose any personal information about you to anyone, except as expressly or impliedly authorized by you to enable us to effectuate the purpose of our representation or services or as required or permitted by law or applicable provisions of codes of professional responsibility or state ethical rules governing our conduct as lawyers.

How We Protect Your Information. We retain records relating to professional services that we provide so that we are better able to assist you with your professional needs and to comply with professional guidelines or requirements of law. In order to guard your nonpublic personal information, we maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with both federal law and our more stringent professional standards. We limit access to your public and nonpublic personal information to only those attorneys and staff members who need to know the information in order to provide the services that you have requested from us. Additionally, all attorneys and employees of the Law Firm of Anderson & Burgett are required to maintain the confidentiality of all nonpublic personal information about you. We maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with both federal law and our more stringent professional standards as attorneys to protect the public and nonpublic personal information that you have provided to us. With your consent, we may disclose personal information to various third parties who are assisting us in providing services to you, such as appraisers, accountants, or real estate agents. With your consent, we may also disclose personal information to various third parties who are assisting you with your financial or insurance needs, such as your insurance agent or financial service provider. Without your consent, we will release information only to the extent required by law or ethical regulations. We never sell personal or nonpersonal information to anyone or disclose such information to marketing companies.
